Kenny Wan Launching Press Release (English)

Monday, November 11th, 2013 @ 7:11PM

Local professional Kenny Wan ready to be the voice for Markham-Unionville (Markham, ON) Chartered accountant Kenny Wan officially announces his intention today to run for nomination as a Liberal candidate for Markham-Unionville in the next federal election. A Markham resident for over two decades, Kenny believes the experience he has acquired during his years of active community involvement puts him in a unique position to represent the people in the area.

“From a very young age, I have been taught to contribute to society actively and positively,” Kenny explains the reason for running. “I relish the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who live in the community, my community.”

Kenny and his family immigrated to Canada in 1981. After completing his degree and achieving chartered accountant designation, he began working for some of Canada’s largest corporations for more than a decade before opening up his own accounting firm in 1996.

Despite raising a young family and running his own business, Kenny has never neglected his social responsibilities. Always willing to support a worthy cause whenever possible, he has taken on many different roles – advocate, donor and advisor – with various community organizations. In fact, he has served as President of Hong Fook Mental Health Association, Centre for Information & Community Services (CICS) and Richmond Hill & Markham Chinese Business Association.

Many family, friends and colleagues attended the announcement in support of Kenny. Several were especially acknowledged, including his wife, Sherry.

“Kenny loves his family and he is also very passionate about building a strong community. Our family believes that it’s a blessing to be able to help others. Equally important, we believe it’s a responsibility to contribute to the community in which we live.” Sherry speaks with pride in support of her husband at today’s event.

Kenny has been an active member of the Liberal Party for the past dozen years. “The Liberal Party is a strong proponent of inclusion, mutual respect, social justice, peace and humanity. I stand for those same values,” says Kenny.
